Protection’s What You Need

After the collapse of yet another holiday company, holidays4u, I wanted to write in and make sure that my fellow GTOs had all the latest advice regarding protection.
It is vital that we hold adequate insurance for our group members and ourselves. I cannot reiterate this enough. Ideally, the travel operator that you book with should be a member of ATOL (Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing), but if not then you will need to check your policy as not all travel insurance covers the collapse of travel providers.
If you book by credit card, then you can make a claim via your card company. A part of credit card law, introduced in the 1970s, means credit card companies must take responsibility for refunding customers if the goods they bought don't turn up or the supplier goes bust. The total cost of the goods you are paying for must be more than £100 and less than £30,000 for the law to apply.
