Game for a laugh?

Date Posted: 30/01/2012
I have to say I found GGO’s column really funny last month; especially the wacky requests that the British consular staff has received over the last few years from its tourists abroad.
I looked up a few more, in the hope of giving your readers another giggle – so how about these for a laugh:
- British officials in Dubai were asked to help meet a dog and get it through customs as its owners would be away that day.
- In Florida, a man rang up to say there were ants in his holiday villa, and asked what he should do about it.
- A caller asked staff in Malaga in mid-September, where she could get a Christmas lunch as everywhere was already booked up.
- Staff in Greece were asked for tips on the best fishing spots and where to purchase good bait.
It really does beggar belief, doesn’t it? I just hope that my fellow GTOs know how to deal with all requests (however bizarre) from disgruntled/confused members of their groups!
